A participatory process is a sequence of participatory activities (e.g. first filling out a survey, then making proposals, discussing them in face-to-face or virtual meetings, and finally prioritizing them) with the aim of defining and making a decision on a specific topic.
Examples of participatory processes are: a process of electing committee members (where candidatures are first presented, then debated and finally a candidacy is chosen), participatory budgets (where proposals are made, valued economically and voted on with the money available), a strategic planning process, the collaborative drafting of a regulation or norm, the design of an urban space or the production of a public policy plan.

Participatory Policymaking

This module provides participants with access to a diverse set of case studies, resources, and materials on participatory policymaking, exploring how digital platforms shape urban governance and political culture. Through interactive sessions, participants will engage with real-world examples of e-democracy initiatives, examining their successes, challenges, and adaptations across different political and urban contexts.
Building on these insights, participants will co-create their own solutions for urban development and political decision-making. Using collaborative tools and structured facilitation techniques, they will experiment with designing participatory models that respond to local and regional challenges. This module fosters a hands-on learning environment where participants not only gain knowledge from existing cases but also actively contribute to developing innovative and context-sensitive approaches to democratic engagement.
