We already have a safer/braver space policy, but policies should not be fixed documents. They should be reviewed, questioned, and improved through the experiences of the people who use them.
This proposal space invites participants to suggest revisions to the existing policy. You can propose something to add, remove, clarify, strengthen, or make more practical.
The aim is to make the policy clearer, more accessible, and more useful for supporting care, respect, accountability, accessibility, consent, and collective responsibility throughout the process.
Instructions to participate
Submit one proposal for how the safer/braver space policy could be improved.
Your proposal can suggest:
A new principle or commitment to include
A sentence or section that should be clarified
A practice that should be made more concrete
A missing accessibility, care, or support measure
A clearer way to report concerns or ask for help
A better way to respond to harm, discomfort, exclusion, or conflict
A change in language to make the policy more inclusive or easier to understand
You may want to respond to questions such as:
What part of the policy works well and should be kept?
What is missing?
What is unclear?
What would make the policy easier to use?
What would make people feel safer asking for support?
How can the policy better support accessibility, consent, boundaries, and care?
How can it help the group respond to mistakes or conflict without defensiveness?
What should facilitators, moderators, or organisers do when concerns are raised?
Examples of proposals could include:
Add a clear contact point for support or reporting
Explain what happens after someone raises a concern
Include consent before photos, recordings, or sharing people’s words
Make accessibility needs easier to communicate
Include guidance for online participation and digital spaces
Clarify the role of facilitators and moderators
Add a short version of the policy for quick reference
Include a regular review of the policy during the process
Please keep proposals practical and specific. The goal is not to make a perfect policy, but to make a living document that can better support trust, dignity, care, and accountability.
