This Crash Course explores the intersection of e-democracy platform design, urban development models, and the political cultures of cities, examining how these elements shape and influence one another within participatory urban assemblages. Through a comparative case study of Decidim’s implementation in Barcelona and its adaptation in Helsinki, we will analyze how different strategies of platform exportation impact inclusion and exclusion in participatory processes.
By critically engaging with these topics, participants will gain insights into the challenges and opportunities of e-democracy in diverse urban settings, with a focus on fostering more inclusive and effective participatory governance.
