Tool T5: More Inclusive Debates

Mapping the facilitator’s journey helps us see how inclusion, accessibility, and safety actually play out in practice, and where facilitators carry hidden or unfair burdens. In small groups, use the template to map a facilitator’s journey through an inclusive debate. Label each box with milestones or tasks like: designing the process, setting up your Decidim space, creating a space for online discussion, onboarding, and moderating. For every stage outlined, briefly discuss what the facilitator is doing and how they are likely feeling, then mark this on the delighted/neutral/frustrated scale. Note specific moments where inclusion, accessibility, or safety may fail. Finally, write change or reward that would better support facilitators and participants in creating safer, more inclusive debates.
