The organisation and facilitation team plays a decisive role in shaping how participation is experienced. Before inviting participants, organisers should identify who will facilitate, moderate, document, and make decisions, and critically reflect on how their institutional roles, assumptions, and forms of authority shape the space.
In the INSPIRE pilot in Budapest, the coordination team brought together social workers based in the building, psychodrama practitioners, academic researchers, and municipal actors responsible for housing and social policy. This mix of expertise was essential to navigate ethical questions, communicate across institutional cultures, and reach residents with recent experiences of homelessness living in very precarious conditions.

Being able to share power starts with reflecting on ourselves. equityXdesign emphasises designing ourselves first, recognising that harm often emerges from unexamined norms rather than bad intentions.
