Across the West Midlands, young changemakers are turning lived experience into policy action. - 💬 Explore their proposals and track their impact here

Oldal

The participatory process combined performative and deliberative elements. Legislative theatre functioned not only as an expressive medium but as a mechanism for co-producing policy proposals in real time. Two key events (March and July 2025) brought together young people, policymakers, and stakeholders to collaboratively generate six policy proposals addressing youth employment. These included:

  • Family-Centred Early Age Career Support

  • Accessible Careers Support & Advice

  • Work Experience and Mentoring

  • Early and Inclusive Work Experience Reform

  • Cross-sector Alliance for Youth Employment

  • Youth-Evaluated Careers Programme

These proposals were grounded in lived experience and developed through iterative dialogue between participants and institutional actors.

To ensure impact beyond the participatory events, the process incorporated:

  • clear, actionable recommendations with timelines and responsible bodies

  • requirements for written institutional responses

  • ongoing dialogue spaces between youth and policymakers

  • dissemination through accessible formats (e.g. podcasts, blogs, public events)

This combination of performance, deliberation, and tracking helped connect participation to tangible shifts in policy discussion and institutional practice.
